Give it up already!

Have you ever noticed that there are some bands that just don’t seem to give up even as they age? While I applaud them for their dedication to producing and performing music, there is a certain point where they need to retire before they die on stage. Look at Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, so far he’s already fallen off the stage twice, and been hospitalized at least once for it. There reaches a point where the performance just doesn’t have the same effect. Somehow listening to Living on the Edge jus doesn’t have the same meaning when it’s sung by a bunch of 60 somethings (not meaning to pick on Aerosmith here, because they really are a good band). I just think they should stop while they are ahead at a certain age, and be remembered for their excellent music and performances, not their hospital visits.

Tim Hawkins has a great parody of this called Old Rock Stars, check it out:

What do you think? Should aging rock stars “give it up already” or keep performing??
